The method, and what we commit to when you finish it.
Most courses sell hours. This one is a process with five stages and a defined finish line, and the finish line is the point: if a student completes every required part of it and their official score has not moved, that is our failure to carry, not theirs. The conditions are set out in full further down this page — all of them, in the same type size as the promise.
The course diagnoses errors, builds a plan from them, then loops practice and review.
Diagnose before teaching anything
27 questions, timed. It returns no score — it returns the skills losing you points, and now also how long each answer took. Right-but-slow and wrong-but-fast are different problems with different remedies, and a course that cannot tell them apart will treat a pace problem as a knowledge gap and waste a month on it.
Teach the rule, with a counter-example
Every rule is shown working and then shown failing. A rule asserted is a rule a student takes on trust and abandons under time pressure; a rule proved against a wrong version beside it is one they can apply to a question they have never seen.
Drill the decision until it is a reflex
1,855 drill items, one decision each. Twenty reps in three minutes rather than three full questions, because what fails on test day is rarely the knowledge — it is the hesitation. Reflexes are built by repetition at speed, not by careful practice.
Measure under the real clock
The exam gives 71 seconds a question in Reading & Writing and 95 in Math. Every practice set here is measured against that budget, and the practice tests route Module 2 by how Module 1 went, exactly as the adaptive exam does. Untimed accuracy is not evidence.
Repair what missed, on a widening schedule
Every miss enters your error log with the mistake named, and returns — at one day, three, a week, two weeks — until you get it right under time twice running. Before the reveal, you say what went wrong in your own words. That one sentence is the most evidenced intervention in the whole literature on studying, and it costs one screen.
The Completion Standard.
Complete every required part of the process below and sit the official exam. If your official score has not improved by at least 120 points over your baseline, we extend your access free until your next sitting — and refund the course fee in full if you would rather simply have your money back. You choose which.
We can commit to this because we check it ourselves. Completion is not a claim a student makes or a form they fill in: you email us your official score report, and a person here goes through your work in the course against the six parts below and tells you, in writing, what they find.
Claim within 60 days of your official score’s release: email hello@calireview.com with the score report attached. We go through your record against the six parts above, by hand, and answer in writing. The six parts are printed here in full so that there is nothing to argue about after the fact.
Why this order and not another
Each stage exists because the one before it is not enough.
Teaching before diagnosing wastes the first month
Two students sitting at 1280 are almost never there for the same reason. One is losing points to punctuation and reading too slowly; the other knows the rules and panics in Module 2. Put them through the same syllabus and one of them is working on a problem they do not have.
The diagnostic is free precisely because skipping it is the expensive mistakeKnowing a rule is not the same as using it in 71 seconds
Almost every student who stalls at 1400 can state the rules correctly when asked calmly. The gap between stating and applying under a clock is not closed by more explanation — it is closed by volume at speed, which is what the drills are and why they are one decision each.
Accuracy without pace reads as knowledge and behaves as a ceilingUntimed practice measures the wrong thing
Score a practice section with no clock and you learn what a student could do with unlimited time, which is not a quantity the exam measures. Every set here is timed against the real budget, and the dashboard separates right-and-fast from right-and-slow because only one of those is finished.
The clock is part of the question, not part of the roomA mistake you read about is a mistake you repeat
Reading an explanation produces the feeling of learning and almost none of it. Saying what went wrong before the explanation appears, and then meeting the same mistake again a week later, is what makes it stop. That is the whole architecture of the error log.
The explanation lands on something, instead of washing over itQuestions about the process
The ones that decide whether this is for you.
Can I work only at weekends?
Yes, and a lot of students do. The requirement is eighty percent of your scheduled sessions, not a particular rhythm — four hours on a Saturday counts exactly as much as four evenings. What does cost you is leaving a logged mistake unworked for two weeks, because the point of the schedule is to meet the miss again while you still remember being wrong.
How long does the process take?
Ten to sixteen weeks at five or six focused hours a week, for most students starting between 1150 and 1350. Less time than that and the 1,200 reps become the binding constraint rather than the material. The plan does this arithmetic from your test date and tells you the answer on day one.
What if I am already at 1450?
Then the process changes shape rather than length. The required-lesson list shortens, the hard tier becomes most of the work, and the drills shift to pace rather than rules — because at 1450 the remaining fifty points are almost entirely timing and traps. The Completion Standard still applies, although 120 points from 1450 is a demanding thing to ask of a method, and you should read the next answer.
Does the 120 points apply from any starting point?
It applies as written from any baseline up to 1400. Above that, the honest position is that 120 points is most of the distance to the ceiling and we will tell you so before you buy rather than after you claim — ask us and we will give you the real number for your baseline in writing.
Who checks the six parts?
We do, by hand, when you claim: you email your official score report, and a person here goes through your record against the six parts and answers in writing. If you are a little short on one, say so — the next question is about exactly that.
What if I miss a requirement by a little?
Write to us. A student at 1,150 reps out of 1,200 who has done everything else has obviously tested the method, and we are not going to hide behind fifty reps. The numbers exist to exclude people who did not do the course, not to catch people who did.
Start the process this week.
Pick a plan and the whole course opens on day one. Or build a study plan first and see what the weeks to your test date actually allow — that takes two minutes and costs nothing.
Common questions
How does the course work?
Three stages. A 27-question diagnostic finds what is actually wrong, a plan is built from your test date and your hours a week, and then a loop runs: practice, categorize every miss, review it on a spacing schedule, re-test. The plan changes as the errors change.
Do I have to follow the plan in order?
No, and the plan assumes you will not. It is a priority order rather than a syllabus, and skipping to a section you know is weak is a reasonable thing to do. What it does insist on is that reviewed misses come back.
How long does it take to finish?
There is no fixed length, because the course is sized to your errors rather than to a number of lessons. A student working eight hours a week for twelve weeks covers the material and the review loop comfortably.
What happens after I get a question wrong?
You get the written explanation — the rule, why the right answer is right, and why each wrong answer was written to catch you — and the question enters a review queue that returns it tomorrow, in three days, and in a week.
Does the course adapt to me?
Yes, from the diagnostic onwards: what is served, what order it comes in, and what comes back in review are all driven by your own error record rather than by a fixed sequence.
What is the Completion Standard?
A conditional commitment: complete the work as the plan sets it, and if the outcome does not follow we extend access or refund the fee. It is a commitment about our side of the bargain, never a prediction of a score.
